The Voice It can only play a “simplistic” audio file. Specifically, it needs to be an “unsigned, 8-bit, WAV file”.
You can use a free program called Audacity to convert your audio file to this format.
We recommend downloading the Audacity software from SourceForge instead of the Audacity website. I can’t figure out how to download from Audacity without requiring you to sign up for their Cloud service…
Once you’ve downloaded and installed it, you can drag and drop your sound file (regardless of format) into the running app.
The key is how you “Export” it.
First, choose Export Audio from the File menu:
Choose “WAV (Microsoft)”, “Mono” as the Channels, and as the Format, and “44100 Hz” as the Sample Rate:
Finally, choose “Unsigned 8-bit PCM” as the Encoding:
Finally, export the project and move your reformatted audio file to the Voice It.
