Teaching Plans

Our teaching plans follow the direct/explicit instruction methodology.  This model is basically “I do, We do, You do” which means first, the teacher does, then the student and teacher do together, and then finally the student does the activity.  We leverage this lesson plan template <to be provided>.

If you develop teaching plans that you’d be willing to share with others, please contact us via the form on our “Contact Us” page.

  • Body Parts – These plans take advantage of several of the most iconic Blissymbols.  Because they teach the student how to communicate about different regions of the body they are critical to the student’s ability to advocate for their comfort and address issues of pain and personal-autonomy.
    • Facial Concepts – This trio of plans incrementally teach the concepts: “eye”, “nose”, “mouth”, and “ear” using the student’s/teacher’s own face as a starting point.  A doll’s head may be used as a substitute.
    • Body Concepts 1 – This trio of plans incrementally teach the concepts: “head”, “body/trunk”, “arm”, “hand”, and “legs and feet”.
    • Body Concepts 2 –
  • Senses –
