No Mount Mounting

The name of this page sounds like a joke but it’s actually intended to show the ways in which you can utilize a keyguard that has no special mounting features.  That means choosing “No Mount” from the “mount keyguard with” pull-down list.  Given that “No Mount” is the default value, you don’t even have to do that.

There are two categories of No Mount mounts: squeezed-in and taped down.  The keyguard can be simply squeezed into the opening in a soft-style case if it’s a few millimeters wider and higher than the case opening.  The squeeze method won’t work with rigid cases.  A squeeze-in keyguard can easily be put in place and removed and sits close to the surface of the screen but it’s hard to know if the case will become stretched out over time.

When using the taped-down method, the keyguard is mounted using “suction cup tape”.  Suction cup (also called “micro-suction) tape is available from Amazon (sheet, roll). A single sheet of tape will last you a long time.  The tape leaves no residue when the keyguard is pulled away from the face of the tablet and can be “refreshed” by wiping the tape with a wet towel.

A micro-suction-tape mounted keyguard sits very close to the tablet screen. but can be very hard to separate if you use too much tape.  The amount shown below in the picture is too much tape.  You’ll want to experiment to find just the right amount of tape.

Squeezing the Keyguard into a Soft-style Case:

The video below shows how to design a keyguard to be squeezed into a soft-shell case.  Note that the video focuses only on the mounting aspects of the keyguard.  For go here for instructions on how to accommodate the layout of the app and grid of tiles in your design.

Now that you have your keyguard printed, it’s time to mount it in the case.

Using Micro-Suction Tape to Attach your Keyguard:

The video below shows how to design a keyguard to which you can add suction tape.

Now that you have your keyguard printed, it’s time to mount it on the tablet.
